Speed/Radar Enforcement
Because speed contributes to the cause of accidents and increase the severity of crashes that occur, the Warrenton Police Department maintains an ongoing effort to attain voluntary compliance of the speed laws within the town.
Within the exception of the streets comprising the former By-Pass, Broadview, Shirley, Frost Avenue, Lee Highway, and Blackwell Road, all other streets within the town have a 25 mph speed limit.
Each Patrol Officer is issued a radar unit. These radar units have the capability of being operated while the police vehicle is in motion or while stationary. The units can also track the speed of a vehicle approaching the police vehicle as well as going in the opposite direction.

Warrenton Police Speed Trailer
The Warrenton Police Speed Trailer, wherever deployed, is designed to make motorists aware of the posted limit for that particular street and the speed that they are currently traveling.
