Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4)

The Town of Warrenton was designated as a regulated small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) in August 2013 and falls under the purview of the Virginia Stormwater Management Act of the Code of Virginia. This designation requires the Town to develop and implement a program to minimize the discharge of pollutants through and from the MS4 into surface waters of the Commonwealth.

The Town filed its 2023 MS4 Annual Report (PDF) & Attachments Report (PDF) with the Department of Environmental Quality on October 1, 2023 for the period July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

Current MS4 Program Plan 

The Town of Warrenton is required under the Municipal Stormwater
Sewer System (MS4) Permit to create an MS4 Program Plan. This Program 
Plan outlines the Town of Warrenton activities will undertake over the
next 5 years of the permit cycle to fulfill its permit responsibilities.

Town of Warrenton TMDL Action Plan 

As an MS4 community, Warrenton is required to develop a Total Maximum 
Daily Load (TMDL) Action Plan for compliance with the water quality
standards as a part of the 2023 to 2028 Phase II General Permit.
